F16 Worlds 2016 @Knokke: Henry Demesmaeker & Alec Bagué Champs
Photo: Jasper van Staveren – Henry Demesmaeker & Alec Bagué (Viper) dominated the event with 8 bullets out of 12 races. The Belgian Youths haven been sailing together for some years now in SL16 and F16 under the Royal Belgian Sailing Club and they’ll continue to perform in any other Class they might enter.
Second place overall at Knokke for Emmanuel Le Chapelier-Eric Bouedec (Bimare) and 3rd for Louis Flament-Charles Dorange. (Bimare)
Going back to the winners imagine these two sailing a foiling Nacra 17 in the Olympics, I also remember Henry and Alec trying the Flying Phantom back in 2014 at Carnac, both grabbing the pace really quick, that is why we need to go Open again. We can be limiting the career of these kids.
Carolijn raced no problem against the big boys in the Tornado, also in the F18, and now in the A-Class. The new talented generation of female racing Nacra 17 will also have no handicap racing Open.
The F16s are also a great light and powerful boat, which will give any sailor participating in it great handling to migrate to any other racing Class.
It’s Important to note the great numbers of new Bimare F16s in the fleet, this is a result of the good costs the Italian yard is offering but also on the performance, quite noticeable when you have 5 of them in the to ten and 2 within the podium.
The Bimares are fit with ‘1D’ One Design sails by Marton Balazs, formerly Ullman GZ Hungary, thus carrying on the experience of the Zuccoli and later Soldano knowhow.
The Bimare now joins Goodall Design Viper, Matt Mc Donald’s Falcon, and Nacra F16 as competitive alternatives to race in the Class.
Goodall Design Team clinches second Title in a row with the Demesmaekers at helm, Patrick & Gilles Tas won the F18 Europeans past week on a C2.
