F18 Europeans 2016 @Brest: Patrick Demesmaeker & Gilles Tas Champs

All Images Manu Duclos / Easy Ride Videos. Full gallery from Manu & Claude Breton at facebook.com/EuropeenF18 —  Patrick  Demesmaeker & Gilles Tas already secured the European title yesterday with the Long Distance to spare. But instead of putting a ‘dnf’ as many early winners use to do they were present in the starting lineup and won the last race of the event, a Long Distance one.

Impressive display by Patrick & Gilles prevailing over two  highly competitive dutch team like Jolbert Vandijk-Franck de Waard and Elke Delnooz-Jeroen van Leeuwen as reported yesterday.
Brest delivered excellent winds conditions the whole week and let the sailors and organizers to complete 15 races , the Beggian team scored top 5 in eleven of them in cluding 3 bullets… talk about being consistent to win a championship.

The winners sailed a Goodall Design C2, while the rest of the top 5 were all Infusions.

The star of the event though was without a doub t Jolbert, the kid has grown up with the experienced guidance of Frank they scored 5 bullets and only got some high points on tricky and changing wind conditions from Tuesday, in fact the top 5 were caught with high points on their average top 10 results.
All in all a bright future awaits to Vandijk, which will try to follow the legacy of the Dutch F18 & A_Cat World Champs.

Battle for the top five was defined today, Ferrec-Delaplace secured 4th overall with a 10th in the long distance and the Argies Gonzalez Smith-Heuser finished 6th in the same race to recover from yesterday’s ufd & 23 which blocked their chances to aim for the top 3.

They finished 5th overall and great championship for our fellow countrymen. We are proud having them representing us in Europe & the US.
With this performance the Cruz and Mariano can now affirm they are North American Vice Champs (2015), South Americans Champs (2011), European top 5 (here at Brest) and Multiple Arg Nats Champs.
They also have some good participation at Worlds, but the pinnacle of their F18 carreer will be our F18 Worlds to be held in October in Buenos Aires.

News on the Worlds are that Forward WIP will be sponsoring the event. I’m really thankful with Remi Finiel & Greg Toubel, getting support back from them for such great & key project for our local fleet it’s  really a nice feeling. Official news published by the YCA at f18worlds2016.org.ar/news/making-things-happen/

I still have to confirm some top notch sailors coming besides Iker & Buhler, also I have to talk with Santi Lange and other Olympic medalist after Rio, in the meantime remember Nacra container is confirmed 100% , contact them or your local Class president for more info.
Those wanting to load from Poland region can contact me too as another container might be organized.
