F18 Worlds Day 4: Tough Conditions

Photos and report: Cruz G Smith – Strong winds with 15-30knots gusts changed the whole championship scenario.
Some crews in the gold fleet couldn´t manage the hard conditions and others in the Plate were flying!
40 degrees wind direction changes made a tactical regatta but also boat handling was critical as we had really strong gusts.
Lots of broken masts, daggers and even boats due to collisions. We have a good performance with a 7 , 29 (we were 8 50 meters from the finish line when a 30knots gust took us down!) and a 13th with a re start for us for being ocs.

We kept wondering what could have happened if the 1st three days we’ve had this conditions, as many in the Gold fleet were too complicated. But that´s something you can´t manage so next time we’ll be prepared! This is our 1st regatta with more than 10 boats and we’ve sailing F18 only 6 months!
Regards, Cruz.
