Krevisky & Benitez 2 years Winning streak
For over two years now Agustin Krevisky & Juan Martín Benitez (Scorpion /1D) have been winning every single regatta in the Arg F18. Within their competitors you have Cruz Gonzalez Smith & Mariano Heuser (3 Worlds podiums abroad) and Pablo Volker (2016 & 2024 World Champ) who also raced with his last title team mate Fede Polimeni in this regatta and a couple of others. Agustin also has a 3rd overall 2021 Italy Worlds.
We had 13 boats racing this Easter, four days scheduled, three actually we were able to complete 12 races total from light one trap conds to double trap and last day excellent four races in 1 trap wind again.
If in 2011 Gunnar Larsen had to work hard to win our Nats, imagine the level the local Arg fleets has now. Come to BA and win, if you can! But well in the end what every top Argie team wants is to excel abroad. That’s why they train so hard at home. And that effort has payed plenty, as you can see in Worlds podiums and titles mentioned above.
I raced again with my son Tomi, we are a regular team by now. I got new sails that needed some batten trim after day 1. Modification worked smoothly and we end last day with excellent speed sailing the Phantom F18 and full Landenberger set from Felix Egner.
Results don’tt show full story but for ie Cruz scored two seconds last day and we were ahead of him in those races 30mts from the Finish line!! Nooo haha, super photo finish for those last day first 3 races with 5/6 boats defining position on the very same line. There we lost much pts, but Nevertheless super happy on the rhythm sailing with my 15yrs old kid , we reached first or top 3 first three windward marks, speed wise a great feeling.
Still waiting for local Scorp hulls…. longtime by now, but hopefully they will be ready after this winter. With more training we’ll improve transitions, and the Scorpion hulls will add additional handling ease downwind in light to medium winds.
Great competitive racing as always in the Argentine F18 Class, even a rookie crew sailing a C2 with standard main managed to put a lot of good results, even a 3rd on the last race in those light 1 trap wind conditions.
2025 Worlds NED
The Argie top riders usually travelling abroad, all got Akurras now. Colby is racing for Nacra for some months and he will do the European pre season, including the traditional Eurocat in some weeks and the Texel later on.
Darren Bundock is registered too, we assume he will race the new Exploder F18 which was launched at 2024 St Barts by Ruben Booth.
