F18 North Americans 2024: Title for Froeb & Marfaing

Formula 18 North Americans 2024, Final Day.

Regatta held at Richmond YC in San Francisco, organized by the US F18 Association.

After a week of excellent conditions and eleven races held in three days, wind took an early rest on Friday but finally delivered. Racing was postponed almost to the limit hour, but the race officers managed to launch two more races which allowed for a second discard.

Title went to Charles Froeb & Matthieu Marfaing (Nacra Evo), a super consistent regatta for them, scoring seven bullets and repeating the NA crown obtained in 2023. Second overall for Matthew Mont & Matthew Whitehead (Goodall Akurra), only two points behind even with two DNF they were able to discard, the ‘Red Gear’ riders were close. Their worst results was a sole 3rd! in the first race and later they placed 1st & 2nds only.

Third overall for mates Francisco Venetucci & Nicolas Quagliotti (Scorpion / 1D) . After a cold start with two DNF on broken bowsprit on day 1, the Argies build up from there, even getting some bullets to secure a nice podium position as their last F18 regatta for them was Mar del Plata in February.
They attended the event thanks to Jill Nickerson who travelled from Florida with their usual load to support Multihull races all over the US.
