Tornado Czech Match Racing Nats

Sent by Roland Gaebler – Czech Nationals – Catamaran Match Racing. 3:2 Win for David Krizek and Martin Sedivec
Matchracing on Multihulls? The Czech Tornados shows real Matchrace action at Pilsen Lake with Multihulls.
Czech Tornado Match Racing Nationals was organized on our small lake in Pilsen at the western side of the Czech Republic. On sauturday we have light winds and we managed to complete 8 races from round robin. On Sunday there was more wind and a sunny day. Team CZE 57, David Krizek/Martin Sedivec won round robin and in the final they met the Pavlis brothers.
The Final was a real battle. Team CZE 57, David Krizek/Martin Sedivec won 1st race, but lost next two. Then they match up 2:2 and in final race they were better on starting battle and won 3:2.
Some of the pictures show some action loaded and agressive manovers Tornados can make in a Matchrace.

David Krizek is the most wellknown and successful czech offshore sailor with many atlantic crossings. He sails Minitransat and Figaro. But he has a real passion for fast multihulls and likes to do a Olympic Campaign in a Tornado for Rio 2016.
But the Czech Nationals showed us, that Matchracing with strict One Design Multihulls can be a real thriller! We just can show exaples how this can work. We all wish to see Match Racing with Multihulls at the next America´s Cup.
In April 2011 they hope to organize Speedsailing Event in the Sailing Arena of magic and historical Prague.
