iFly Regatta @Lake Geneva 2022

The 2022 iFLY European Cup Geneva, Versoix, Le Mailly was sailed last week in Versoix. As in the previous years, iFLY sailors from all around Europe met for a week for training, clinics and race together. iFLYs from Germany, the Netherlands, France and Switzerland joined the event for the week.

We did have 5 racing days, set up by CNV Club Nautique de Versoix and Christopher Owens. Next to the racing opportunity, we did get a lot of teaching and training to optimise our starting technics, to do foiling starts and maximise the speed using the code F.

The coaching was done by Michael Miller, the inventor of the iFLY, using a rib and walkie talkies. Despite all the huge learnings for all of us, we didn‘t manage to beat Michael during the races, both foiling in good and non foiling in weaker wind conditions, and as last year Michael ended winning the prestigious silver Cup Le Mailly. The second place was taken by Benjamin Firmenich and the third one by Gerhard Florin. We had great fun, great weather and optimised our boat set up as well as our racing skills.
