Hobie 16 WA States 2022: Gavin Colby & Josie Mark

Slowly getting back to normal in Western Australia, with travel restrictions off many will be able to recover their usual work like pilot Gavin Colby, who apart from flying in the Hobie 16s & F18 fleets , literally flies for a living. Gavin returned to H16 racing this weekend along Josie Mark to grab the 2022 WA State Championships sponsored by Warren Taylor Homes, ahead of Cam Owen & Susie Chent (former H16 Aus Nats Champs) and Darren Smith-Claire Bisgood.

Colby was happy with the event, and the end of restrictions:

“Hey mate. I hope your well. I jumped back on a 16 last few days. Good, strong fleet. Beautiful conditions. Very close racing. Awesome venue. The afternoon on. Sunday was 18 knots. 30c. And aqua blue clear, flat flat water. It was absolutely beautiful sailing. Sailing well at the moment. Looking forward to the Europeans (F18)”

We are happy for him, and for the WA sailors recovering their freedom to travel at will along such an awesome Down Under Land (+meet friends & family again too from other states). Hopefully Colby can make it for the 2022 F18 Euros, God willing with current situation in Europe.
