After Bundy had a so-so debut on the practice races, I think many of us didn´t care. New boat, team etc, lot to coordinate.
Yesterdaay on R1 Darren just fast cruise the 40min race, showing that if you are a talented sailor you will just perform in any vessel. It was an impressive run and performance.
I imagine Coutts smiling, and Bundy thinking, well I’m up to the challenge.
Although he had a bad start and average 3rd race, winning in that way your first official race is a proof of his level.
I always read about how all new teams and skippers need to adapt….but he lives right at home on the AC45.

Also finally a good situation for him as today he will face hopefully some qualifying match races. He needs those MR extra minutes right now.

And who were the fastest on the 3 races? Energy Team with Yann Guichard and Arnaud Jarlegan end winning the last race, and too close to the other too. The AC34 Dark Horses as I named them on Tuesday delivered a performance that only experienced multihull sailors can offer.

Greeen Comm lead the 3rd race for a while a had a good 3rd overall. Althoug Vasco is an excellent sailor, as a multi Olympic medalist needs to be, I think the team needs to include some Multi stars. I would say Mishcha Heemskerk or Olivier Backes are a good choice.
China was ok, but ended last overall. Beyond winning in light weather where Hagara is specialist, I think the potential shown when Mitch (remember it was the first event) was helming is not present Imagine what the current team with Mitch could do now? you just have to watch Bundy and Guichard to confirm that multihulls sailors are going to be key in this Cup, it is of course a nobrainer since they announced the AC72.
