A-Cat. Pizza Open 2021 for Alex Meister

Report sent by Guido Schulte –

Alex Meister Pizza Open Champ

The 13th edition of our Pizza Open enjoyed excellent wind conditions, enabling eight races on two days, a worthy compensation for the quite chilly temperatures. Nineteen competitors from four countries fought fiercely for the runners up position, as Alex Meister convincingly finished with eight bullets. Thomas Paasch came in 2nd in front of Christian Nygaard, both representing Denmark in fine style. Jörg Horn (6th overall) won the classic discipline, followed by Astrid Janssen (10th overall) from Belgium.

Although the Formula 18 class only had five competitors, there was a fierce and close fight among three of the  teams, all from Wismar’s neighbouring Hanseatic town of Lübeck. Peter Melloh and Björn Wendel finally took the trophy home, followed by Marc Gleue with Liam Burdon and Dieter Maurer with Katrin Oldenburg.

All in all, a rewarding conclusion to the active racing season on the Baltic. Hope to be seeing many of you for the German nationals in the Wismar Bay next year.
