Day 2 for the 2021 Worlds Championships, Gaeta, Italy. After a first day with +25knots , easier conditions were the norm today with light winds prevailing. Earlier before the races I was chatting with an European friend on how Danny Paschalidis was going to put all in for the day and bullets were due , my friend told me he didn’t thought the Greek could come back just like that… I replied lets talk again in 5 hours.
The Greeks, Worlds Champs 2018, are excellent in the breeze as seen in Euros 2018, Worlds 2019 or St Barts. But with Kostas going to Tokyo as coach coming weeks, a new crew was due, and he had a harsh debut n the breeze yeserday!
But today it was a sweet one for Danny & Stefanos Pappas, two commanding bullets and a 5th for them. What a character display from both, coming from a capsizing Monday. They now stand in 4th overall with 9 races left.
Mitch & Ruben Booth continue their top 5 scores in every single race and sit in first place overall, all being said of Mitch , I will to the end of the event to complete no doubt yet another praise for him & sons.
With two bullets for Danny & Stefanos , the third one went to Archipelago Raid Master, Frederik Karlsson & Rasmus Rosengren (Scorpion / 1D) , who also finished 3rd in race #6, climbing to 10th overall.
The new Goodall Akurra Team continue its performance display, now in lighter winds. Specialist Sach brothers and the Van Dams, both scoring 2nds each to secure second and fifth overall places respectively..
Patrik Demesmaeker & Giles Tas got 21,20 & 10th, the breeze masters are a bit heavy, suffered a bit but course and shift also played their part, as Patrik &Giles were fast in the last race no prob with the Akurra.
Our Argie friends Krevisky-Aragones and Gonzalez Smith-Heuser, had a hard day and relegated some points for their podium pretensions, still much at stake though. Jordi Booth & Sergio Mehl confirmed their speed in these conditions for a 3,9 & 4, coming back from a similar situation with Danny in breezy Monday.
More mid range conditions expected for tomorrow.
