Power Blast

All photos courtesy of James Clark, taken by Kathy Miles . A-Cats can handle +25 knots no problem, another matter is managing +28knots gusts on a foiling platform.

One of the most shocking images I’ve seen.

James describes the sequence above:

“This is Paul Raymond, on a 28knots gust, at Waxit regatta in Perth, it was a very very windy day with gusts up to 34 knots, 2u boats retired.

Platform is an A15 equipped with cassette rudders and Z22 main foils, the crash broke both beams. Another A Cat ride broke his mast also in a 30 knot squall.

Paul was fine after the crash and landed Ok! He sailed away and then he realized the boat was broken

It was so windy that cam Owen and Susan Ghent beat all the F18s across the line on a Hobie 16″.
