Australians are suffering a big bush fire crisis all over the country, damaging the rich wildlife and also affecting towns all over the place. The 2020 Aus Nats was decided to take place for those who could attend.
Check Below Aus Class President statement issued Jan 4 published in the Australian A-Class Association fb. Venue is Paynesville, Victoria.
On the Regatta itself Steve, Paul Larsen, Brewin & Darren Bundock are among the ones present and ready to participate. No racing for Day 1 on lack of wind plus poor visibility.
On pics above we are can see Brewin pushing the mainfoil inwards for Graham to confirm foil tip is within 230cm rule limit. Seems it didn’t complied, as Brewin is shredding that same tip in following shot taken by Helena Darvelid / Sailrocket.
NATIONALS UPDATE FROM PRESIDENT
Hi All,
Nothing much has changed today. The south westerly has moved the smoke away, but this may come back later in the week. The Southerly front of the fire North/ North East of Bairnsdale is still to be contained.
Hume hwy at Violet Town closed due to accident which should be open tonight. Fires in NSW and around Albury may still cause an issue but at least the South Westerly is moving smoke away from hwy.
The forecast is still for light to moderate winds from a variety of directions.
Locals are keen to put on a regatta for us. Those that are already there are keen to sail.
The decision to attend must be taken by the individuals, but I would
strongly advise that children and asthma sufferers remain home.
Whilst the Southerly has blown some of the smoke away it may come back later in the week.
Suggest you check with your accommodation before you leave.
Please look at your maps and take the back road from Sale via Bengworden and Eagle Point, bypassing Bairnsdale.
Safe Travels.
