Hobie 16 Worlds 2019, Women’s Title for Annie Gardner & Sarah Kraft
Photos by International Hobie Class Association. The Hobie 16 Worlds continues at Captiva Island, FL. Many divisions are held during the first week (Masters, Grand Masters, Youth & Women) to complete the event with the Open regattas.
In the Women’s Class two former World Champs fought for the 2019 title, Annie Gardner sailing with Sarah Kraft and Pamela Noriega & Katia Real Lopez.
In the end Annie & Sarah prevailed by 3pts with Pamela & Katia winning the last two races, showing the level of competition in the Women’s div.
Second Hobie 16 Women title (1995 & current) for Annie Gardner, who is one of our Catsailing & Windsurfing Queens. She race F18s, F16s, H16 , you name it, Annie has done it. Including pioneering all women Americas Cup team, a round the World trip on a Katana 40′ or a Windsurfing Olympic Campaign. Talented as very few sailors out there we are happy for her constant drive for sailing at top level. I think she needs to attends coming 2020 F18 Worlds in Italy.
On Pamela Noriega, well she and her father Armando along his son taught me to sail cats back in México, she won the 2004 H16 Worlds at Playa del Carmen with her Mom Marta Noriega crewing, add to her cv a couple of Panamericans medals.
Third place overall for an Italian crew, Caterina Degli & Giulia Ancilotti. The Hobie 16 Class keeps maintaining its level and its Worlds are no doubt must attend events.
