F18 Europeans 2018 @Costa Brava: Day 3
Photos: Marc Gonzalez Alóma, more here – Mitch & his son Ruben. – Tight fight in each race for the third day of the 2018 Europeans. Great conditions once more with a building breeze ending in aournd 15-17knots for the last race. It was a bullet each for the top 3.
Mitch & Ruben Booth won R7, Henri-Wirtz R8 and Paschalidis-Trigonis race 9.
Danny & Costas showig their experience scoring all their races below 5th position, excellent consistence for them. After 9 races held in three days they maintain overall lead with 22pts, followed by Henri Demesmaeker-Wirtz (34pts) and Mitch & Ruben Booth (35pts).
Burvill-Puttman follow closely with 36pts in 4th overall and the rest are a bit behind of the podium spots.
On the Italians crews in the top ten Fantasia-Recalcati had two DNC today and trailed back in positions, but later results were modified to RDG 8.50 for them to enter the top ten again. I contacted Gianni to see what happened: Gianni: “We were sailing on starboard and we were hit badly by a boat on port, we broke spinnaker pole/ring and mainsail broken, in addition to compass lost etc”
The Italians teams are doing quite well and Gianni remarks how training together back home is paying now at the Euros.
Two more days of racing pending. Thursday being last day with 6 more races scheduled.
More details & pics later when available.
