Americas Cup Series Oman 2016: Land Rover BAR 1st – Pics by Renedo
All images Jesús Renedo / Lloyd Images / Oman Sail – Not much foiling at Oman, but some races were fun to watch like the good old floating AC45 Days. The Highlight of the event for me was Ben Ainslie / Land Rover BAR , not the win but how they sailed. Always going for the most efficient course, great tactics and handling too.
On the equipment on light winds, some of the teams used the code zero upwind too, but not always payed. On lift off speed I saw the AC45s ‘F’ foiling only at 16knots of boat speed.
Adam Minoprio had a great finish for his debut with Groupama Team France, finishing 2nd and 1st the last two races of the series. The French teams always have good speed, remember Energy Team, and with Cammas still recovering they have found in Minoprio a Match Racing specialist who also has adapted pretty fast to the AC45. A weekend to celebrate for the French team.
Team Soft Bank Japan had good moments, but seem to fade away in every race. Artemis dominated the Practice day while struggled the next two days.
Live Replays were available till yesterday, now they have put a geo restriction thanks to ACEA for sure, which is doing everything they can to block this event to be seen…..
Check if you can watch both Days of racing again thanks to French TV Channel Canal+ …
