F18 Argentine Nats 2024 Results

F18 Argentine Nats 2024

Past weekend we had 3 good days of racing here in BA. We started Friday 2pm in light winds, 3 races were completed. Saturday a bit more wind but shifty, four nailed and Sunday massive day with five races on the bag, last three held in good double trap conditions.

We had some absences do to work compromises, also two guys caught Dengue at St Barts…
Then World Champ helm Pablo Volker couldn’t attend as he was enjoying a Wingfoil trip in our beautiful Patagonia, at San Martín de los Andes. He organized a guided tour, a great project intended to repeat during 2025. More info on this coming post.
Although Pablo couldn’t race we had the reigning WC crew, Fede Poliimeni was visiting family and was able to participate.

Agustin Krevisky & Juan Martín Tigre Benitez dominated the event, 12 races held in the end. Third consecutive ARG Championships for them.
Cruz Gonzalez Smith sailing with Octavio Dorbessan were second and the new kids on the block, Alfredo Agote & Martín Barletta grabbed podium on their second year racing F18. The kids come from the 420 Class and are sailing a 2015 Scorpion and are enjoying F18 racing plenty. Many more podiums coming for them in future locally and I might say abroad too long term.

Top 4 all Scorpions & 1D mains, I raced again with one of my kids, Tommy, who just left Optimist months ago, we finished 5th overall and although results do not show we were in the top 3 pack pace. Second F18 regatta for my son, previous one we managed a good mid fleet overall and a 3rd as best score, now we put an excellent second on the water, and many near misses for scoring better results. We had excellent speed with the Phantom 2013, 1D main / Nacra jib 2011 & Landy spi from light to double trap.

I’m still waiting for my local built Scorpion hulls, meanwhile the Martin Fischer designed Phantom continues to delivers and we will improve with more hours for Tommy sailing F18.

Catamaran sailing gave me plenty of good things all these years, this has to be the best so far, pretty happy to be able to race with my son.

No pics this time around, results above.
