F18 Worlds 2024, Costa Brava Day 1

Day 1 for the 2024 Worlds finished literally with the coast name conditions: “Costa Brava”, survival mode +25 knots and waves for the second and last race of the day. See photos above by ADECAT.

Race 1 was held in good 12-15 knots and later several #R2s were abandoned with no breeze period waiting for more wind on the water for both fleets, wind which finally arrived, plenty of it.

Argies Cruz Gonzalez Smith & Mariano Heuser (Akurra) lead, followed by Danny & Kostas (Scorpion / 1D) and Bader & Peters (Nacra Evo).

Two crews that scored 1st and 2nd in R1 later got DNF in the last race, Garget-White and Dary-Fanoulliere.
R2 Blue fleet Dary , Burvill and Demesmaeker were leading last downwind leg but they got caught on near 30knots gust as described Brett. Still they managed to score a 5th in that race for a 5th overall.

Super competitive top 10-20 teams, 6th overall and returning to the Worlds for Simon Northtrop-Caleb Cooper sailing an Evo equipped with Northtrop Sails.

We have info too on an Aussie being check at hospital on a possible rib injury.
Tomorrow more harsh conditions expected.
