F18 Australian Nats 2024 Final Results
After two days of breeze the final day of the 2024 Australian F18 Nats saw lighter winds conditions. Hobie 16 crew, Adrian Fawcett & Jessie Dobie dominate the day with two bullets. They are light weight and also Adrian grabs mainsheet himself a la H16, thus hey give some handicap in the breeze for a light crew. Nevertheless they finished 5th overall in a breezy regatta.
Adrian also builds his own sails which he equipped their Windrush Edge. The Hobie 16 fleet always a great source of talented sailors.
The title was defined between Brewin-Beattie (Scorpion/Brewin DS) and Gargett-White (Goodall C2), and were the latter team which score a 4th & 2nd to secure the first place overall while the A-Cat top guns had issues with lighter breeze after scoring 5 bullets in previous 6 races.
The winners, Archie Gargett & Beau White took their C2 (latest built version with case moved forward) to the 2024 Nats title with a solid regatta in the breeze and light weather, a testament of the Formula 18 box rule where you don’t actually need latest weapon to win a major regatta. Crew makes the diff and of course The C2 has always been fast in any condition. White grabs his second 2024 Nat title, after clinching F16 Title past week.
Third overall for Eli Henebery & Kris Bilston (Goodall Akurra), 4th for James & Emily Henderson sailing another super proven F18 like the Nacra Infusion and 5th for those above reported Adrian Fawcett & Jesse Dobie.
Top local Aus teams, Colby-Colman were not there on Kai being at the AC Cup with American Magic, and Burvill-Puttman on a flu Brett had to endure.
