F18 North Americans 2023 Final Day Results
Four more races held at Burlngton Beach Catamaran Club, to close a great week of F18 racing in Canada. Charles Froeb & Matthieu Marfaing (Evo/11D) prevailed in the end after a good battle whole week against Pablo Gallyas & Isidora Urrutia from Chile (C2/Nxt Gen DS). Third overall for Matthew Monts & Matthew Whitehead (Goodall Akurra).
Happy to see Matthieu Marfaing winning, he attends all major F18 events in US, Europe & Caribbean and always sharing good racing & vibes.
Yesterday we mentioned the Chilean crew performing on a C2, but that was not even the highlight of the platforms this week, fourth overall was for Ulrch Gollwitzwer & Liam Walz on an Infusion MKII and 7th place the Legendary Hobie Tiger (Tuned up with Marstrom boards & 1D DS) extremely well sailed by Daniel Borg & Chris Molder, who scored about seven top five scores within the entire range of wind available (5 to 15 knots). Check their H16 rudder up technique in pic above.
A testament of the Formula 18 box rule. Grab your F18, go out and train hard, you’ll have plenty of fun racing these beauties and best part is the after party and beers with friends.
Great result for our Chilean friends, Pablo & Isidora were here in BA racing 2016 Worlds, and they travel abroad every year to enjoy F18 racing around the globe. Sailing mixed mode the 2023 North Ams Title was at hand with lent/chartered C2. Congrats to both and keep raising that performance.
Remember Next year Worlds will be held at Costa Brava, one of the best venues the Class has visited. Plan accordingly, the old good times are back and +100 boats expected for an F18 racing fest.
