A-Cat Worlds 2023 at Toulon, Day 4
The Classic fleet started early today, they had more wind than the marginal conditions seen the day before. Current Classics World Champ, Andrew Landenberger, decided it was time to put pedal to the metal and scored 3 consecutive bullets to climb to third overall. Still Landy’s a bit behind 10 points gap vs Anderson & Doreste, both tied in 12pts for the lead.
Foilers had two races in about +12/13knots reported by Gordon. Kuba Suroviec (Vice Champ 2022) went ballistic, literally… Once on land, Kuba posed showing a 32.2knots max speed screen.
Yesterday talking with some friends here in Arg I told them consistency alone wont win this year title, you need bullets on the tight high performance competition. Yesterday Bundock got his and today Kuba stamped two key ones to take overall lead after 8 races. Second discard already in place.
Bundy reported issues with plastic in his foils, and lost that top 3 scoring, 6 & 7 for the day. The Aussie sits third overall behind Mischa who got 5th & 2nd.
Chatting with Jakub today got aware that Manolo Calavia has retired worried on some ribs pain, such sad news. Manolo always there showing his Class. Remember him from Punta Ala were he finished 3rd behind Ashby and Mischa. Get well soon Manolo, you need to get that DS revenge back from 2015 next year at same venue!
