What a sailing fest this past weekend at the Royal Belgian Sailing Club. One of the most dedicated institutions we’ve seen all these years supporting Youth sailing.

The Nacra 15 Europeans (74 boats!) and Nacra 17 U24 Worlds (20 N17s fleet) saw excellent breeze and plenty of action.

In the Nacra 15 Class overall win for Swiss youths Marie Mazuay & Clément Guignard.
Nacra 17 Olympic boat under 24yrs old, for the Booths! Ruben & Rita, clinching yet another title. They were crowned Nacra 15 World Champs past seasons.
Dad should be proud. Mitch have sailed with both, and many years with Ruben building up skills in the F18 where they grabbed the 2021 Worlds at Gaeta.

Spanish Federation might be reconsidering their selection process next time, as the kids raised with strong Spanish roots were sailing under the ESP flag not much ago. Mitch questioned some internal qualy scheme, and went to put their kids racing under the Aussie flag.

In the end whichever the flag these two talented young Booth siblings sail, chances are they will win! Nice to see a World Titles legacy going forward. Even pursuing an Olympic medal, why not? Mitch won the Silver Medal along Andrew Landenberger in Tornado.

Another note for the Argentine sailing Federation, after having the winning all crew like Dante Cittadini & Teresa Romairone in the Nacra 15 Class (Worlds & Youth Olympic Gold) they have left them without further support and also cut the local Nacra 15 program. We, F18 ARG, as payed members are going to request some explanations on the matter.

Youth sailing is an obvious key future investment, and those who leave kids without support when possible have no place in leading their local sailing federations. Thus the importance of the RSBC and their youth programme led by Sebbe Godefroid, always marking the way.

Sadly we were focused on the F18 Worlds at Travemunde, so here a bit late final day report sent by Nathalie De Waele / Royal Belgian Sailing Club / www.rbsc.be
