First Day for the 2023 F18 Worlds being held within the Travemunde Week in Germany. 100 F18 registered and two split fleets.
Issue was they did not race at the same time in separate courses, as it is due for a Worlds level event, as the morning flleet (Blue) got more breeze and better conditions than the Yellow fleet.
This must be addressed next time, we put eemphasis on this on the A-Cat Worlds events where one fleet raced with 15 knots the other with 5 , not a leveled field.
Eitheway 3 races completed for each group. Blue had 8 to 15 knots, left favored side with more breeze as reported by our Argie mate and current leader overall Pablo Volker, sailing with Fede Polimeni on a super fast Goodall Akurra, under ESP sail as Polimeni is living and coachin in Spain.
Pablo has F18 experience abroad, also won BA 2016 Worlds, some top ten too in 2019, Polimeni is rather new to the F18 but putting lots of hours, training, hard work and logistics to be able to participate. Happy for both.
Second overall Emil Jarudd & Rasmus Rosengren (Scorpion /1D) who dominated the Yellow fleet tricky course conditions.
Third overall for Argies Cruz & Mariano, looking for a 4th consecutive podium, but lets better grab the title this time around!?
4th, 5th, 6th tight group and Ravi Parent & Henry Lee (Nacra Evo) scored 1 , 2 and a 22nd left them a bit behind.
Still much pending, the Aussies are fighting too with Parker & Bliston (Edge / Nxt Gen) and Colby-Kolman (Scorpion / 1D) looking to clinch the crown this time around after a Vice title in 2022.
Finally great performance too for Matteo Fiorini & Lorenzo Casadei. Brett & Max will get into the top 5 no issues with more breeze.
