2023 A-Class North American Championship Report

Wow, what a fantastic week of sailing out of Davis Island Yacht Club.  Race Committee, club member hospitality, DIYC restaurant and bar, and the location were top notch.  Warm water, a sheltered beach to launch off of, and great wind – what more can you ask for?

11 Races were completed over the course of 4 days of racing.  There was the complete range of conditions – from 5 to 15+, flat water and chop. And did I mention a shift or two..

Bruce Mahoney put on a foiling clinic followed by a dogfight between the Woods Brothers, Michael Christensen, and Richard Stevens.  Bruce’s string of picket fences was only interrupted by a rudder problem that allowed Larry Woods to grind him down for the win on race 9.

  4. Richard Stevens – DNA
  5. Robbie Daniel – Exploder

In the Classic fleet, it came down to the final two races on who would walk away with the Craig Yandow trophy for classic champion.  In the end, Chris Brown would be crowned NA Champion of the classic division.
