Around PEC long distance regatta NOTICE OF RACE Can F18 RAID Championship

Presented by the Ontario Racing Catamaran Association
This Regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).
1.1 Any navigation aids may be used including gps.
1.2 Any communication devices may be used.
1.3 Teams may obtain materials or tools from any source to do repairs during the race or between races.
1.4 There might not be any starting flags or signals. Competitors may start according to the race start times in the schedule. The start and finish lines will be published in Kwindoo.
1.5 Water temperature is usually between 70-74 degrees Fahrenheit so a wet suit or dry suit is not mandatory.
1.6 Sails may be changed only if damaged beyond easy repair and with the authorization of the race committee, and only at the end of the day.
ELIGIBILITY:
2.1 This Regatta is open to all beach catamaran sailboats with spinnaker with 2 crew.
2.2 Participants must show liability insurance
2.3 Boats or crew may be measured/ weighed at any time during or after the event.
REGISTRATION:
3.1 Entry Fees: $350
-$100 for a team with at least 10 hours of volunteer time (including bringing a 3rd person who helps out)
-$50 for pre-registering before July 1st
-$100 if you bring a sponsorship worth at least $500
+cost TBD per person if you want an Around PEC windbreaker jacket.
3.2 Registration and all appropriate fees must be paid by July 1st, 2023 in order to obtain the early discount.
3.3 No refund of registration fees will be offered after July 15, 2023
EQUIPMENT:
4.1 All competitors are required to wear a US Coast Guard (or the equivalent authority of the competitor’s home country) approved personal flotation device at all times while afloat, except for brief periods while adjusting clothing.
4.2 No Class certification is required for boats. No schrs certificate is required.
PENALTIES:
5.1 RRS 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns penalty is replaced by the One- Turn Penalty.
5.2 The race committee will tell you if you are OCS and also we will refer back to Kwindoo for start timing. Boats that are OCS will be penalized 3 x the number of seconds they are over early.
SCORING:
6.1 Scored using SCHRS rating system. Each leg will be scored 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc. no measurement certificate is required. no schrs certificate is required.
6.2 There will be one throw out for every 5 races.
6.3 Scoring will be done for all boats as one fleet for an overall prize and a second scoring will be done for F18 class boats.

The Sailing Instructions are posted on www.aroundpec.com. The course will be available Aug 4th,2023 through the kwindoo.com site.

The race organizers (Organizing Authority, race committee, protest committee, host club, sponsors, or any other organization or official) will not be responsible for damage to any boat or other property or the injury to any competitor, including death, sustained as a result of participation in this event. By participating in these events, each competitor agrees to release the race organizers from any and all liability associated with such competitor’s participation, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
