A-Cat Europeans 2022, Day 3: Ol’ Bundy still performs

Day 3 for the 2022 A-Cat Europeans

Regatta being held at Circolo Vela Arco, Garda. Brewin & Mischa got a bullet each but the most consistent today was Ol’ Bundy. He reported in his fb reaching first in both races to winward mark, but “geriatric” conditions left him short to defend each lead finishing 2nd & 3rd.

Still reaching first to the top mark in that fleet, it’s massive and more for a 50yrs old guy, but well, the guy is Darren Bundock and we calculate he has at least 5 yrs left in top conditions! Bundy also lead some races at 2022 Worlds, scored last bullet and finished 4th overall in a tough high winds regatta, only behind 3 top talented youngters like Parent, Suroviec & Gibbs.

We always want to remark Bundy as the guy we respect the most, in terms of his carreer but also on being such a good bloke. He reminds me of Argie Striker Gabriel Batistuta, leaving all they got at each event combined with an aura of a humble nice guy in spite being both two Legends in their field.

The A-Cat today is a full foiling machine above say 8 knots for the top guys, in the breeze its a ballistic endeavour handling it upwind, thus we always invite top World riders to show their skills in the Foiling ACat Fleet, this is no perfect smooth assisted ride upwind by any chance.

Stevie Brewin mantains lead over Mischa by 2pts, close competition at Garda, nothing defined.

In the Classics fleet another legendary sailor leads the fleet, Scott Anderson with two more bullets sits ahead Gustavo Doreste and Moritz Weis.
