Nacra 17: Lange will aim 2024 Olympics with new crew
Santiago Lange and Cecilia Carranza have officially parted ways after Tokyo campaign. The Argies won the first Nacra 17 Gold Medal back in 2016, and could not repeat 2021. Lange came from three consecutive Olypmic podiums before Tokyo: Two in Tornado with Camau Espinola, who had two previous Silver medals in Mistral and the mentioned above in Rio with Ceci Carranza.
For Paris 2024 Lange have joined forces with Victoria Trasvacio, a talented young Arg sailor, who was close to podium in Tokyo in the 49er FX Class along Sol Branz. Travascio was helm on the 49er, so the transition to crew the foiling Nacra 17 will be a great challenge for her. She crewed an F18 last Arg Nats in hard breeze too.
Cecilia seems will swap platforms and might sail 49erFX.
Two more crews will be targeting the Arg Nacra 17 spot, Mateo Majdalani & Eugenia Bosco and the youth World Champs/ Youth Gold Medalist Dante Cittadini & Teresa Romairone.
For Tokyo Lange reached an agreement with Mateo & Euge and there was no internal qualy, this time around we expect some competition, but Lange and his experience added to a tremendous consistency in each regatta can prevail on the race course too.
We hope to see the three crews competing, issue is the uneven economical level of support they will get.
Argentine multihull scene keeps being quite solid, the strong Olympic squad teams plus the performance in the Formula 18 in major events are evident proof of the local level. We need a strong results in an A-Class Worlds and we’ll have a complete party. We already invited Santi to sail an A, lets see if he gets on board.
