Moth Worlds 2021: Slingsby is #1

Earlier this year on a Sail GP event preview reel Tom Slingsby stated he was Number #1 Sailor in the World. Laser World Champ & 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist, the Aussie is also an Americas Cup winner with Oracle, plus SailGP Season 1 Champ. In Moths he already won a Worlds in Perth 2019 and this week he crowned himself as the absolute Moth dominator at the 2021 Moth Worlds.
But as a complete performance sailor we think Outteridge, Burling & Tuke are more overall as they can also excel in dinghy Cats like As or N17 (for Nathan too & Ruggero). The A-Cat being a foiling platform that has no automatic flight controller like the Moth has involves an addtional degree of skill.
The Moth is the Foiler by excellence, without any question, but we would like to see Tom winning over Ashby , Mischa , Brewin & Bundy in the A-Cats. There we will officially name him the very Best & most Complete sailor to ever lived!
Total wipe for Tom at Fraglia Vela Malcesine Moth Worlds, 13 Bullets out of 14 races with that fleet is a superb achievement. Hats off to Slingsby and we encourage him to race coming A-Cat Worlds next year in Florida.
Slingsby & Jense sailed a Bieker / North combo.
bOn the Exploder/ D3 Moth, Tom Johnson finished 11th overall, with many top tens and top 5s for him and Diego Botín in his first serious Moth regatta, Diego managed to lead over Slingsby in one race but had some teething issues like a broken block, and other details common for a brand new platform on its first ever regatta.
Great job done once more by Jakub Kopylowicz, who will target a Moth Worlds Title. He has by now several F18, A Cat ones, plus a Vice in Formula Windfoil too, getting a Moth Worlds in the future is not something to discard, after the impressive performance on this brand new design by Gonzalo Redondo / D3 Applied Technologies & Company. We will do a QA with him soon on the R&D .
