F18 North American 2021: Ravi Parent & Nick Lovisa Champs
Excellent definition at Alamitos Bay YC for the 2021 F18 North Ams. Yesterday the Argies Cruz Gonzalez Smith & Mariano Heuser were tied with Ravi Parent & Nick Lovisa after 11 races. Today three more held and the locals sailing the Nacra Evo prevailed on fight for the top spot vs the Argies on a Scorpion /1D combo.
Cruz & Mariano finished second in 2021 Worlds & 3rd in 2019. They went to LA to put their performance on the line vs experienced locals and were close to rake the title, great performance by our mates who continue to get podiums all over the World!
But we are more than pleased to see Ravi & Nick winning. We’ve been following and reporting Ravi Parent’s career since he was a kid and it was always clear he was going to deliver in the big leagues. Now also sailing Nacra 17 Campaign and blasting the A Cats too.
Along Jason Waterhouse one of the kids we, and many others, saw as future stars.
Third place overall at Long Beach for Todd Riccardi & Dalton Tebo (Nacra Evo) , they performed in every wind condition and got a deserved podium.
The Nacra Evo, draw at Morrelli & Melvin, had two of her designers in the regatta. Fer van West crewing for Charles Froeb (4th overall) and Pete Melvin himself sailing with James Melvin.
Update: Ravi is also now working as an Engineer at MM. He also commented next steps are Nacra 17 Worlds in November, and A-Cat & F18 Worlds 2022 in Florida.
The Akurra teams finished 5th , 6th & 9th and Manu Boulogne & Mattieu Marfaing sailing the Cirrus 901, 8th overall with some good races in the breeze including a bullet.
Pity 2022 Worlds wont be held at ABYC, we think it was the due venue 10yrs after 2012 Worlds, and with Sarasota having 2018 Worlds it was time to travel West again.
Still Jill Nickerson will organize a proper Worlds in Florida next year and we hope to have a +100boats attending, also some Aussies hopefully (if they let them out …… Some nasty stuff going on Down Under specially in NSW, we wish our mates there to be safe but also to be free live and travel in a near future)
No official sailing pics available to us, we will publish if we found or get any.
