Yet one more awesome day of sailing at Gaeta.
This Worlds are a Racing Fest as Costa Brava 2019, excellent venue which delivered 4 races.
Mitch & Ruen Booth Match raced Christian & Helge Sach (Goodall Akurra) the entire day, the fun aspect is they doing this while in front of the fleet. None got a bullet but both keeping low controlled scored in each one. Booths lead overall , Sachs follow.
Argie Power. Yesterday we wrote our Arg mates were fast, they needed to break the pressure, and today they did just that. Agustin Krevisky & Nico Aragones won the second race and Cruz Gonzalez Smith & Mariano Heuser the third, both finishing in total control of the fleet. Good following averages positions in the rest of races and both climb now to 4th & 3rd overall positions.
Last race bullet powered by Edge & Nxt Gen Sails
Estela Jentsch is a young helm making her way through the big leagues. Coming from the Tornado fleet and sailing her 100% Australian built Windrush Edge, the German sailor is partnering with Max Puttman for this event, the Australian designer & builder of Nxt gen Sails.
Max was going to participate with Brett Burvill, but local Australian restrictions complicated things out for a proper trip to Europe. Brett & Max are top F18 sailors who finished 5th in 2019 Worlds.
Estela and Max are sailing together for the first time, and both are having some excellent moments in this regatta, a great chance for Estela to keep improving.
Last race win was a Master Class on VMG downwind, coming from behind with the leaders speeding to the gate laylines, Estela & Max pointed directly to the gate with excellent speed too to take the first place.
That final bullet of the day was surely worth the trip for Max, seeing Estela’s joy in her face was a great moment as Max commented. Happy for both, and another example how you can race and win in the F18 with many different competitive platforms.
Update: Brett tells me that Elia Mazzuchi is sailing a Edge too, thus two wins today for the Australia yard!
Two more days of racing pending.
