Our Quarantine what to watch / read: F1 Drive to Survive Series / Churchill Bio
Photo: Mercedes AMG F1 Team — Nobody asked! But as not much to report right now (although working on some AC50 vs AC75 renders plus 3D printing the Face Masks for Hospitals for a local Arg project I’ve joined ) here you have some of the things to watch & Read in this quarantine: Right now watching “F1 Drive to Survive” (Netflix). Season 1 focusing on small teams and the interesting stories behind. The Misery, the talented, the young promises, the $ and all the ingredients on a juicy behind the scenes really well made.
Netflix original series: netflix.com/title/80204890
Then on other series: “Rome” (HBO oldie but so good) , “Trust ” (Paul Getty kidnap series, not an easy one to see but just top notch production), “The English Game” (For Euro zone guys, Not much accurate historically and could have been much shorter, but good the same to watch one shot and later dig historical beginnings of Football in the UK), some initial episodes of “Blacklist” to relax a bit and ofcourse “Vikings”, if you haven’t seen it yet , specially first 3/4 seasons.
Then on Books I’m reading some in parallel now:
- Winston Churchill: An informal Study of Greatness (Robert Lewis Taylor)
- Tides of War (Steven Pressfield)
- The Medici (Lorenzo de Medici)
- God Wills It! A Tale of the First Crusade (William Stearns Davis)
There you have, standard recommendations easy to find and watch/read. Books all available in Amazon Kindle Edition.
On Churchill is the second bio I read, finishing this one, which I started before the quarantine. If you think you are making any sacrifices now, you don’t, your ancestors have endured way plenty much in both great Wars. On the Great Winston, he was a real mess, but had the Drive and Vision for the real big things.
Greatest modern Politician ever, again, no one is perfect, but if wasn’t for him, we might have been living under a Nazi/Communist Totalitarian regime right now a la North Korea or Venezuela. Things are not looking good either way now long term in the Liberty / Total Freedom aspect. If you ask me, I prefer imperfect leaders but under total freedom, than the supposed Socialist “paradise” that has never been successfully implemented.
