Australian F18 Nats 2020: Burvill & Puttman crowned Champs

Another Australian Title for Brett Burvill & Max Puttman riding their own creations, the Windrush Edge F18 & Nxt Gen Sails. Max reported they used a new mainsail design “.. Always good feelings seeing the builders racing their own weapons at top level.
Second place for another local F18 platform & sails builder like Brett Goodall, sailing with Lachie White sailing a C2 / Goodall Design Sails. If I recall well one of Brett;s best results as helm.
Good warmup for the Australian teams towards coming Worlds 2020 in Italy.
Read below Final Day report sent by Brett Burvill:
“Final day of the F18 Australian nationals where 4 races were sailed and with 4 different winners for the day it showed the competitiveness across the 29 boat fleet . Some spectacular capsizes with big gusts and shifts kept the leaders mixed up with some big breakaway wins and alot of snakes and ladders across the course . Winds mainly from the north west but quite shifty and patchy once again.
Holding a handy lead going into the last day Burvill/ Puttman sailed conservatively staying close to the direct competitors and taking few risk even if it meant not going for bullets . Dunk and Clark after a great first couple of race days fell back not being able to find any luck in the tricky conditions of the final day . Goodall/ White sailed consistently to secure second from the great rookie team of White /White with the helm at just 14 years a real future threat to the titles .
Parker/ Brown win the last race to finish fourth and fifth place to MacDonald and Coe. With 7 different heat winners across the 12 race event the fleet is getting faster and racing closer . Overall a good mix of boats and sailmakers represented with 5x Edges , 4x C2’s and a Scorpion all in the top 10 with various sails from NextGen , Goodall , 1D , Alegayter and Landenberger + Hobie , Capricorn and Nacra sails performing well on various boats in the mixed conditions.
Well done to the Tasmanian F18 team for getting the event arranged and done smoothly and in a friendly environment with a small enthusiastic team of volunteers ( even if it was cold for pretty much everyone who had traveled from mainland Australia ) “
