Australian F18 Nats 2020: Day 2 Results
Photos by Clinton Taylor, more at Australian F18 Assoc fb – After no racing yesterday the fleet managed to complete 5 for today. Brett Goodall (C2/Goodall DS) commented on fb on the conditions: “…2 days into the Australian Formula 18 National championships with Lachie White… Lost a day yesterday due to too much wind.
4 races today in light and very shifty conditions and another in a solid 15+ blow…. Happy to be sitting second, but have some work to do do catch old Brett Burvill the sly Old fox..”
Brett Burvill’s sent us his : “… Yesterday was day 1 but with a stormy 28 deg day and up to 35+ kts sailing was abandoned after the boats made it out to the starting area with some teams already in trouble . Thursday dawned much cooler and rain early but 5 races were completed after about 7.5 hrs on the water . Light and shifty conditions with results showing all teams getting the wrong end of a shift at some time. Aus F18 AGM completed after racing with great enthusiasm for the 2021 worlds to be held in Western Australia …”
The Aussie fleet sent a bunch of boats to last Worlds in Europe and owns two of the most competitive platforms & Sails, built the Goodalls (C2/Goodall Design Sails) and Burvill/Puttman (Edge/Nxt Gen Sails).
In addition delivering F18s World Wide those above have excellent racing skills and are leading the 2020 Nats.
