Another edition of the St Barts Catacup comes to an end. 4 Days in Paradise for a total of 60 F18s. 2019 Title went today to JC Mourniac & Antoine Rucard sailing a Manu Boulogne Cirrus R2 (with Phantom Sails) . Quite happy to see Manu’s R2 getting consistent great performance, if you are looking for a proven winning design, plus the highest quality available in the market, don’t think twice and contact Anne Boulogne for your own R2 at bcm-catamaran.com/contact.php
On Jean Christophe Mourniac, he is long time top rider in the F18, showing his level winning 3 races, including the last one which defined the podium in their favor.
We hope JC can return to race F18s, this year I think he was doing some Diam 24 Tour a Voile circuit.
Second place overall for another usual top performer in the F18, Gurvan Bontemps & Benjamin Amiot (Scorpion / Phantom Sails), who also won 3 races and had a shot to first place today.
The two French crews were followed by one of the current top notch teams in the Class. With a third at this year 2019 Worlds at Costa Brava (only behind two Pro teams) , Cruz Gonzalez Smith & Mariano Heuser continue to display their level at every regatta they enter. The Argies had to discard a 4th, while their worst place, a 6th on the round the island course, diminished their chances at that race cannot be discarded. Today they pushed hard again finishing 2 & 2 to tie Bontemps & Amiot in pts. They were the most consistent an a standard 1 discard would have give them first place overall, but the French crews got 3 bullets each so its a deserved podium for all 3 crews.
2020 Major event will be Worlds in Italy to be held at Gaeta, more info at the IF18CA web: www.f18-international.org/2019/11/looking-forward-great-2020-worlds/
