1st Windsurf Foil Arg Nats: Saubidet Flight Power
Video & pic above is raw vid footage I shot on Saturday , later more reel and full report. – This past weekend (15-18 Nov) we had the first ever Windsurf Foil Argentinean Nats with 20 boarders which were held at Barrio Nautico Adela, an Estancia (Farm) with Lake included located in the middle of the Buenos Aires Province. Hosted by Tobal Saubidet, a Windsurfer & top local Kitefoiler who runs the new sailing facilities project within a friend’s land. Tobal has one of the most re known Wind-Kite school here in San Isidro: tobalkites.com.ar
His nephews , Fran & Bauti dominated the event, coached by their father Raul who sails too. The family Team has a bright future, with a Youth RSX Olympic Gold medal already in their CV (achieved by Bauti) . Now both kids are dedicated also to Windfoil, they are pretty good at it, believe me.
Their other uncle, my friend Julito Saubidet has a windsurfing Olympic campaign background on his own (Camau Espinola days). He is one of the driving forces building up this new Class in Argentina, getting equipment for the fleet while receiving technical tips directly from pal Gonza Costa Hoevel. Julito is right now one of the top Windfoil riders here in Arg along brother Raul who sails at top level too.
But the elder Saubidet bros are nowhere near the new generation skills (give +30 yrs difference too..) Fran & Bauti will become top notch World material in the future, just watch video above (ARG40 & ARG1) and how they managed the offset mark at some 20knts gusts. I was filming on the boat with Tobal, and we both went in awe on the power these kids were delivering. Impressive stuff.
The Saubidet Family runs the Windsurfing Foil show in Arg, the organized the event on a perfect special place (more on the full report) , they gathered the fleet together (20 boards) for all to participate and they are also the best sailors around.
Get used to their name you will be reading & hearing about the younger ones plenty in the future.
