F18 Southern Hemi weekend Oct 6 2019: Racing Results from Arg & Aus
Photo: Jorge Cousillas from a previous regatta early in 2019 – This past weekend we had first weekend for Buenos Aires Week here in Arg and also the annual Wildcat Regatta in Australia held at the Great Lakes Sailing Club. I only have results for the Aussie event, where Daniel & Nathan van Kerckhofs (former Aus Nat Champs) won over Bundy- Chris Brewin both crews sailing Goodall Design C2s. Great number of F18 racing, with a 25 boat fleet. The Australian fleet will be hosting the 2021 Worlds which will mark the return to DownUnder lands since 2007.

F18 Argentina – Buenos Aires Week Day 1 & 2
In BA we had two days of close competition, with Volker & Mehl dominating the first two regattas in light winds held on Saturday and spread bullets for the 4 races on Sunday with winds +12knots.
Agustín Krevisky & Juan Martín Benitez (6th 2019 Worlds) are leading after six races with super consistent scores, second place for Blando-Borges and third overall for Volker-Mehl (8th 2019 Worlds) . Cruz G Smith-Heuser (3rd 2019 Worlds) in 4th overall and having a tough time within local fleet. Imagine how competitive our F18 fleet is right now that you can obtain an amateur “World Title” (behind Pros like Bundock and the Greeks) and coming home to fight your way to scratch podium after 6 races.
The local fleet level continues to grow, as shown in 2019 Worlds, pound by pound Argentina has the most competitive fleet right now. I’ve been writing about our guys potential for years and at Costa Brava 2019 it was finally confirmed. 4 crews sent, 3 on the top ten including a 3rd place podium.
For Italy 2020 all the top crews will try to attend to take the World by storm once more. Proud of the guys, all amateurs sailing F18 for the great fun and high level of racing it provides and will continue to do so in years to come.
On the New Nacra F18 Evo: I’ve sent a QA to Nacra already to gather details of the new platform, we’ll publish when received.
No pics available yet for both events. Below, SBA 2019 first weekend results , next weekend pending to close the final results:
