Americas Cup: TNZ AC75 Hull study I
Initial lines to understand Emirates Team New Zealand AC75 hull. Basically our first impression was a scaled Catamaran hull adapted to dimensions and needs for this new monohull foiling platform.
To start drawing we grabbed our F18 Scorpion hull cad and scaled accordingly to AC75 rules. Bow matches almost to mm and overall shape could be adapted no problem. The TNZ AC75 hull has a strong TNZ AC72 & AC45 / AC50 heritage. The Scorpion also owns part of its profile shape to the lines of these great designs, specially the TNZ AC72.
The key feature of the new TNZ AC75 hull is the stepped bottom and longitudinal bulb that we need to continue working on.
Above only drafts to start, cockpit and details to follow. Later we’ll go for foils and to complete a fully 3D render as we’ve been doing for several Cups now. What’s the point? Well , mainly understand the concept and learn and I like to draw them too. Now also with 3D I might release the STP files. But first need to get more shots and more hours refining this beast.
Main aspect for this Cup will be foils, as evident since 2013, but I’ll start with the hull as always do.
Edit: First foil draft published here.
.Below check a pair of AC50 foils we did last Cup.
