F18 Worlds 2019 @Costa Brava: Day 2
All images Marc Gonzalez Alomá , complete album sent by Olvier Bovyn at CSN Fb Day 2 at Ballena Alegre Camping, Costa Brava, Spain. “Ballena Alegre” means literally Happy Whale, and that mood is the one we hear from the sailors on the wind conditions , organization and venue.
On the course Danny & Kostas kept their perfect bullet work until the 3rd race of the day where some issues with a jib block relegated them to 11th in that one. Still two bullets earlier made for 5 wins and the 11th as discard to lead the Championship ahead Bundock-Conor. The Australian Master and his youth apprentice put pedal to the metal today obtaining 3 bullets climbing to second overall 1pt behind the Greeks.
Third place for one the best amateur crews out there, Cruz Gonzalez Smith & Mariano Heuser finished 2nd x3 behind Bundy and are defending their top 3 overall.
Finals
Tomorrow fleets will be divided in Gold & Silver and we’ll finally see the real measure of the leaders, I’m confident we will see some nice fights for the title. But it will not be only the former Tornado sailors aiming for the crown, another former Olympic Legend and son are in 4th overall, Mitch & Ruben Booth can win races no problem in the finals and Brett Burvill & Max Puttman will pressure too. The top five cannot rest at ease coming days, the Argies can also deliver. And much talent in the top ten read to attack.
The best is still to come at Costa Brava. Top ten below, complete results & official event web https://cvballena-alegre.sailti.com/en/default/races/race-resultsall/text/f18-world-championship-2019-en
