Tornado German Nats 2018: Jürgen & Sarah Jentsch Champs

“Jürgen and Sarah Jentsch, Segelclub Füssen Forggensee (SCFF) were able to defend last years German National Championship title in the Open and Mixed category.
The German National Tornado Championships took place on the Bavarian mountain lake Walchensee (850m above sea level) with good 10 -14 knots.
Two races in sunny and stabile thermic conditions with two bullets of Jürgen and Sarah Jentsch,more than 400m in front of the fleet.
On the 2nd day with began with difficult wind conditions, thunderstorms on the horizon influenced racing with shifts and gusts. After day one with 2 bullets, came 3-3-4.
The sensation of the weekend were Estela Jentsch and Johannes Sattler (16 and 17yrs old, Estela Miixed Tornado World Champion with Brett Burvill and 3rd overall in the 2016 Worlds in Lindau, Germany and Johannes ex- 29er and German National – trainingteammember as 49er helmsman). On day 2 with the results 2-2-1 leaving the two teenagers from the Segelclub Füssen Forggensee, in 2nd place overall.
3rd, came German National Tornado Class President Markus Betz with his 19 year old son Nicolas Betz, from Segel- and Motorbootclub Radolfzell, Lake Constanz.
The organizing club of Segelfreunde Walchensee did a great job on the water with a fleet of more than 50 Catamarans.
For the Tornados It was a pleasure to join all the cat sailors F18, F16, Hobie 14 &16 , Topcats and Darts as well as others in one race with lots of tradition in Bavaria, the „Walchenfass“.
The next 2019 German Nationals are planned to be held on Lake Konstanz in 2019.
