Update: Day 3 report by Ben Hall
—————–
Not Groundhog Day
Light winds prevailed in the three races today. Mischa continued to dominate but the race for second (and the North American Championship) intensified today with Matt Struble starting to come in to form and giving Bruce Mahoney a good run.

Bruce won the first race in convincing fashion with Matt second and Mischa third. Mischa smoked the last two races with Matt second and Bruce 5th and third.
In the Classics it has been very tight racing with Rush Bird, Damian LaCasella and Craig Yandow all in the mix. The wind was more left than day one and two and some of the sailors had weed problems up by the weather mark. The wind looked like it was going to build but eventually faded to about 5-8 kts for the last race.
Once again the race management did an excellent job dealing with the shifting conditions.
Big thanks go out to the California State Park for providing a great beachside boat park with easy launching and a beautiful sandy beach.
After racing we were all treated to a seminar given by Mischa. It was especially helpful as Mischa put things in an easy to follow format. He helped both foilers and Classics understand how the rig and foils work together and how board rake and winglets angles change performance. The seminar was video taped and with be made available to all class members.
Tomorrow two races are scheduled. The sailors now have two throw outs so that sets the table for tomorrow’s finale.
No question that San Diego has delivered.
