What a race, the Bol d’Or is improving every single year with the addition of a entire range new of multis like Diam 24OD, Easy to Fly, Sunnucks Vampire M20, GC32, F20s and many more.
This is one regatta you have to put on your bucket list. 8 hours on the Breeze or +24hrs in 5knots of wind it has to be one of the most fun and challenging raids to participate.
Clement Peduzzi & Maxime Blondeau sailing on a Hobie Wildcat F18 it’s also a blast for sure in the breeze they had in this year edition. The Wildcat real time was 8:01:09 for a 30th overall.
Only 5mins behind of a Ventilo M2 and 10mins of an M1 and ahead two Diam 24OD!
Some others C1 Multis in the mix, but cannot identify them yet.
Another great performance was for William Sunnukcs Vampire M20 with 06:48:03 finishing 20th overall right after the top M1 & M2s Cats (D35, Ventilos M1/M2 etc)
The new Easy Fly foiling cat (8tms lenght / 13.70m mast) desgined by Guillaume Verdier, a C-Class modified platform launched officially some months ago complete the round in 16th palce overall : 6:17:44hs
They finished behind behind two floating Ventilos M2 (8mts / 14.20mts Mast) , maybe next year with more time sailing it they can aim for the M1 Class ( D35s)
2017 Overall win in real time for Alinghi followed by Lady Cat, (owned by Ernesto & Donna Bertarelli) on a close finish after 5 hours of racing.
Third place for a foiling GC32, Jerome Clerc’s RealTeam
– Alinghi 5:11:00hs
– LadyCat 5:12:34hs
– GC32 RealTeam , Foiler 5:19:23
The floating D35 continues to reign at Lake Geneve even in foiling conditions:
