Nacra 15 debut at Youth Sailing Worlds 2016 @Auckland
All images Pedro Martinez / Sailing Energy / World Sailing. 20 Nacra 15s are competing at Auckland for the first time. The foils setup is curved boards a la Nacra 17 this time around. On the course race how convinient having Cecilia Wollmann & Michael Wollmann for Bermuda leading after 3 races.
Second place for US youths Romain Screve & Ian Brill and third overall for kiwis Jackson Keon & Tom Fyfe.
From the ones I know and present at Auckland we have Tim Mourniac , top French Multihull sialor (F18/FP/Diam24) and F16 World Champ Henri Demesmaeker, holding 4th & 9th respectively. Also Ruben & Rita Booth representing Spain in th overall.
From Argentina a talented opti sailor, Massimo Contessi is sailing with Agustina Castro Fau. Massimo trained some weeks on a Nacra 17, as we don´t have yet a youth Multihull fleet and the Nacras 15 bought by our local Federation have not arrived yet. It would have been nice for Massimo to compete on our F18 Worlds to build up experience.
Massimo also sails Moth and has a brilliant future ahead, he was selected towards Buenos Aires Youth Olympic in 2018, where the Nacra 15 will race in foiling mode.
