TopCat Worlds 2016 @Biograd, Croatia: K1, Pasolini & Casamenti Champs

Croatia will definitely become the new ground for Catsailing events. At Biograd the Topcat K1 Worlds and K2/K3 International events were held past week.

In the K1 Class, F18 sailor Guido Pasolini & & Lorenzo Casamenti were crowned World Champs. Second place for Mercedes Zinn-Zinnenburg & Tommy Czajka and third overall for Wolfang & Paul Klampfer.

The updated K1 done by Guido looks really good and uptodate design with the Topcat platform as base.

The 2016 Topcat World Championship took place at Biograd Yacht Club in Croatia

Which resulted in a great place for sailing.  Winds all week and everything surrounded by a beautiful panorama and scenery.

The championship hosted the event for almost 70 TopCat catamarans divided in K1,K2 and K3 Classes. The mother of them all, Class K1 (ISAF recognized) gathered 32 boats from 7 nation, we got sailor also from the Maldives.

The venue at Biograd was great and we easily completed the 10 races scheduled in the program and we always sailed in double trapeze conditions with winds form 12 knots until 25.

Guido Pasolini and Lorenzo Casamenti won the ISAF/WS Topcat K1 Worlds Championship with two races to spare,  but they had a nice fight with Mercedes Zinn-Zinnenburg and Thomas Czajka both great sailors coming from Tornado and Nacra 17.

The level of the class is growing quite well, people from other classes like A-cat or Tornado started sailing Topcat, also thanks to the new K1r design by Guido Pasolini that perform really well also in strong wind, there was 8 new K1r in the top 10.

The organization of the Yacht Club Biograd was perfect and we hope to sail  F18 regattas in the future in the same venue.
