Patrick Demesmaeker & Gilles Tas have secured today the 2016 European title with the scheduled long distance race for tomorrow Wednesday.
The Belgian crew, who won the 2015 dutch nats , showed the most consistent performance at Brest, but it was not easy task with two talented Dutch crews fighting head to head with them: Jolbert Vandijk & Frank de Waard scored 5 bullets while Elke Delnooz & Jeroen van Leeuwen two bullets and four 2nd places of their own. But both have a bad day 21, 15 and UFD ,11 respectively which paved the way or the Belgians to secure the 2016 crown.
The contenders to reach top 3 were Ferrec-Delaplace and Smith-Heuser. The French crew put 2&20th while the Arg lost all chances with UFD,23 , a pity in terms of formal scoring but still a great event for the South Americans.
Tomorrow Long distance is scheduled to close the championship.
