St Barth Catacup 2015: Final Day
Video by Easy Ride – All images Alain Blanchard & Pascal Alemany – Patrick Demesmaeker & Olivier Gagliani won the 2015 St Barth Catacup on a Goodall Design C2. Patrick had a great 2015 winning the F18 Dutch Nats and other good performances. When the Arg crews were getting ready to fly to paradise I told them this were no vacations on the competitive aspect. Catacup has always gathered several top nothc sailors and competition is always fierce. Just take a look of the names in overall top ten below.
With next 2016 F18 Worlds will be held in Buenos Aires (Oct 28 – Nov 4 / www.f18worlds2016.org.ar/ ) , the two Arg crews took the chance to continue their training program. Cruz Gonzalez Smith & Mariano Heuser (currently Nr 1 F18 local crew) put pedal to the metal in the last day of competitive sailing finishing 2nd and first in the last two races of the event.
I exchanged some chats with Mariano yesterday and they were quite happy on the way the finished the regatta, and as stated in previous 49er Worlds post, their happiness also got together with the new Era Argentina will experience next years after yesterday’s presidential election results.
Below top places for the two races held on Sunday at St Bart and the overall top 10 standings. Official report & full results at stbarthcatacup.com/en/pages/Home-Welcome/
