The Lange bros , wearing the yellow jerseys, lost some ground scoring 4,26 & 15 for a 4th overall, while New Zealanders Burling & Tuke got two bullets & an 8th to grab the lead with a 17pts gap over Federico & Arturo Alonso from Spain holding 2nd place,
