F18 Worlds return to Europe for 2013. The new local Banga F18 will be debuting at Grosseto, as the Falcon did last year at LA. Notice of Race
1 RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.2013 – 2106
1.2 No national authority prescriptions will apply.
1.3 The Equipment Rules of Sailing 2013 – 2016 with its amendments will apply.
1.4 Sails shall have the full sail number and national letters in accordance with the Class Rules and RRS and Appendix G.
1.5 Rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty which must include one
tack and one gybe.
1.6. Rule 44.3 will not apply.
1.7. Decisions of the International Jury, appointed according to ISAF Appendix 10, will be final. RRS 70.5.
1.8 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.
2 ADVERTISING, BOW NUMBERS
2.1. Advertising shall conform to the current ISAF Regulation 20 and the Class Rules.
2.2. Boats may be required to display bow numbers and advertising chosen and supplied by the Organizing Authority.
3 ELIGIBILITY
3.1. The regatta is open to boats of the Formula 18 Catamaran Association.
3.2. Each competitor shall be member of their respective national or continental F18 Class Association and shall have
their entry endorsed by their respective national or continental F18 Class Association.
3.3. All competitors shall meet the requirements of ISAF Regulation 19, which requires that all competitors (helm and
crew) shall be members of their Member National Authority or one of its affiliated organizations. The Yacht Club or
organization name and membership details shall be stated on the entry form.
3.4. Any competitor under the age of 18 years will be required to obtain parental/guardian consent prior to
commencement of Championship
3.5. Eligible boats may enter by completing the online entry form at https://2013.f18worlds.com and paying the
required fee by the 1st of February, 2013.
3.5. Late entries will be accepted if accompanied by the late entry fee until 1st of June, 2013. Thereafter, late entries
may be accepted at the discretion of the Organizing Authority.
3.6. National quotas will apply in accordance with Class Rules.
3.7. All competitors shall have their entry endorsed by their F18 National Association or their National Authority. For
boats not selected by their National Association, a waiting list will be established, and the slots not used nor
guaranteed by the relevant National Associations by the 30th of April 2013 will be then reallocated. Such entries
will be accepted until the 10th of May 2013.
3.8. The top three helms of the 2012 Formula 18 World Championship will each be granted one Wildcard.
The following documents shall be provided at the time of registration
3.8.1. A copy of a valid Measurement Certificate.
3.8.2. Copy of the Insurance Certificate including the terms of insurance.
3.8.3. Proof of membership as per NOR 3.2.
3.8.4. Proof of membership as per NOR 3.3.
3.8.5. Proof of age for Junior and Master Competitors
3.9. All boats may carry a tracking device with tracking enabled at all times during the race, which shall be used for the
sole purpose of entertainment for after-race replay and analysis.
3.10. Only boats having completed all registration requirements will be allowed to compete.

4.1. The entry fee shall be €240,00 per boat. €120,00 for Youth Under23 Teams.
4.2. Late entries received after the 30th of April, 2013 will be €350,00 per boat.
4.3. If an entry is cancelled by the competitor, the entry fee will be refunded as follows:

5. QUALIFYING SERIES AND FINAL SERIES
5.1 The regatta will consist of a qualifying series and a final series.

6.2 Number of races: there are fifteen races scheduled with no more than four sailed on a day.
6.3 Any race on the last day for which a warning signal is not given by 15.30 unless General Re-Call, shall not be sailed.
7. MEASUREMENT
7.1. Each boat shall hold a valid Measurement Certificate and present it at time of Registration.
7.2. Sails shall have the full sail number and national letters in accordance with the Class Rules and RRS Appendix G.
7.3. Additional measurement checks may be conducted during the regatta at the discretion of the Organizing
Authority.
7.4. Following each day’s racing one or more boats may be inspected for compliance with Class Rules.
7.5. In accordance with the Class Rules C.3.2 (c) (1) (3) (4) and C.6.2 (a) Vessels to carry a corrector weight shall fly to
the second batten mainsail from the bottom flame provided by the organizer.
8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
8.1. Copies of Sailing Instructions will be available at the Regatta Office during registration.
9. VENUE
Races will be held in the waters of Marina di Grosseto
10. THE COURSES
10.1. A trapezoid course will be sailed, unless the boats are sailed as one fleet when a windward-leeward course may
be used. There will be a starting line and a finish line separate.
11. SCORING
11.1 The scoring system will include both qualification and final series results.
11.2. The qualifying series will be concluded at the end of the racing day on which six (6) or more qualifying races have
been completed by all groups.
11.2.1 When fewer than four (4) qualifying races have been completed, a boat’s qualifying series score will be
the total of her qualifying series race scores.
11.2.3. When four (4) or more qualifying series races have been completed, a boat’s qualifying series score
will be the total of her qualifying series race scores excluding her worst score.
11.3. Final Series
11.3.1. Three (3) final series races are required to be completed to constitute a final series.
11.3.2 When fewer than four (4) final races have been completed, a boat’s final series score will be the total
of her final series race scores.
11.3.3. When four (4) or more final series races have been completed, a boat’s final series score will be the
total of her final series race scores excluding her worst score.
11.4. A boats final score will be the total of her qualifying series score and her final series score.
11.5. After Qualification Series is completed, competitors will be split into two fleets, the first half entering
the Gold Fleet and the second half entering the Silver Fleet. In the case of odd numbers, the Gold Fleet shall
have one more competitor than Silver Fleet.
To establish the final results, Gold fleet competitors will be ranked in scoring order, Silver fleet competitors will also be
ranked in scoring order.
12. SUPPORT/COACH/SPECTATOR BOATS
12.1. Support/coach/spectator boats shall register with the Race Office during the registration period.
12.2. The fee for support boat registration shall be EURO 50 which does not includes mooring.
12.3. A unique registration number will be assigned to each support boat. The registration number shall be visible at all
times while on the water.
12.4. Support boats shall display their national letters on a flag or outboard covers.
12.5. Rules governing the conduct of support/coach/spectator boats will be in the Sailing Instructions.
13. BERTHING
Boats shall be kept in their assigned places in the boat park.
14. RADIO COMMUNICATIONS
Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications
not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.
15. PRIZES
15.1. The regatta winner will obtain the title “2013 Formula 18 World Champion” and will be awarded the
International Formula 18 World Champion Perpetual Trophy.
15.2. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories subject to entry numbers:
15.2.1. Overall (both Gold and Silver fleets)
15.2.2. Female teams – both helm and crew shall be female
15.2.3. Mixed teams
15.2.4. Masters – the helm shall be aged 50 years or older on the first day of the event
15.2.5. Youth – both helm and crew aged 23 or younger on the first day of the event
16. RIGHT TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS
By participating in the Formula 18 World Championship a competitor automatically grants to the organizers and its
sponsors the right in perpetuity to make, use and show, from time to time at their discretion, any motion pictures and
live, taped or filmed television and other reproductions of him or her during the period of the competition without
compensation.
17. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority
will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to,
during, or after the regatta.
18. INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 1.000.000 €
per event or the equivalent.
