Photo above: Murphys Law to the Max. This is from race 11, we were passing Sergio Armesto, a converted monohull guy and brand new Soto 33 Owner too, for the 5th place , Sergio ended that race 6th and 2nd on the last one with a building breeze, another excellent performance for a newcomer (second year with the class)
After this the bowsporit exploded due to the starboard spectra wire failing on an omega cut, we ended twelve finishing without spi saving some points, I told my crew and boat owner to race the last the same, but we decided not to force/break the boat any further.
That breakage and not racing the last one finally put us 8th overall on the Arg Worlds qualifier for only one point (143 for us and 142 for 6th & 7th overall for two complete championships and 22 races.. )
Thanks we will have some euro spare slots this time, as Arg was assigned five, we were comfortably 6th before Murphy caught us! We have a 20 boat fleet and 15 are racing the qualifiers.
Needless to say that if the Worlds were in France for ie this could have been a final decider on not going.
Leeson reminded: If it can break, it will, so don´t change your Infusion bowsprit factory cable wires for spectra as Esteban did, it is going to fail in the worst moment possible with the worst consequences available!
