The Finnish Formula 18 Assosiation (www.f18.fi) and Helsingfors Segelklubb (www.helsingforssegelklubb.fi) is arranging the first Finnish Formula 18 National Championship this coming weekend. Last year we had 21 boats in a class championship and by having more than 20 boats on line, we earned National Championship status.

This year again – there will be 21 boats racing.

Currently the forecast is light winds and some cloud cover. It’s late season in Finland now and weather can be pretty much anything at this me of the year.

Last year it was blowing 20+ knots and really steep 1m waves made the racing really exiting. It seems that this years it will be completely different kind of event.
In 2012 we will arrange F18 Nordic Championship (it was first time held in Moss, Norway last weekend) and expect to see more than 40 boats on line. So good times with F18’s in Finland and Scandinavia.

About FF18A:
Finnish Formula 18 Association was founded Dec 2009. After less than two years of active work we have managed to create a nice fleet in Finland. It usually takes years to build a fleet of 20 boats in Finland – we did it just in one year – and are expecting to grow following years.

The class association has been active arranging clinics, training sessions and regattas in Finland. In addition to that we now on our own 40ft container that is used to ship boats to international regattas. The next big one being the Europeans in Las Palmas at the end of this year.
