AC45s at Plymouth Day 5 – Oracle boats Out of the Match Race Final
Coutts gave a class on the 1st match with a huge comeback but Barker won the series with two convincing wins.
The old Master was quite close, but O5 needs more than experience and ACups past wins over their shoulders, they need a younger crew to maintain the rythm of the highly demanding AC45s.
Bundock in, Coutts staying for tactis (Today he showed he still nr 1), plus the Captain on changing position, there were moments where the Wing took ages to trim compared to Ashby’s game and coordination with Barker, will make O5 an even stronger team.
Draper too close over Peyron and later left Spithill with almost a capsize on a bareaway and won they way to the other semifinal against Artemis.
The majority of the Matches were a Blast.
Those who predicted an advantage knowhow and experience to Oracle, well they should review current situation. The only reason why that is not happening is cause with cats, nothing is granted until the finish line, not for capsizes only but for speed gains and loses one can make, I imagine a Coutts being on an old acc boat, impossible to win against TNZ on 1st race.
Or ETNZ finishing second yesterday after being dead last by hundred meters on a false start.
You have no margin leading but you have lots of opportunities while being back.
